What are the settings for AOL?

    • Matt says:

      SMTP server: SMTP.aol.com
      SMTP port: 587
      Username: aol username
      Password: your password
      Use ssl: on
      Requires auth: on

      Thanks!
      Matt

  2. Dan says:

Is “use Iphone email” supposed to be on or off

    • Matt says:

      Dan,

That depends. If you want to setup the settings you can and leave it off. However if u want to use the account you already have setup on the phone, turn it on and it will work thru your email already on the phone. When you turn the setting on, you have to “click” one more time when you send the message. I only really suggest using the “on” for yahoo so you can have free push email for responses.

      Matt

  3. steve says:

What are the setting if you want to use yahoo but its not a paid account

    thanks
    steve

    • Matt says:

make sure you have the latest version from the app store. Then make sure you have your yahoo account setup correctly in your email app and that yahoo is the default. Then on the settings page, turn the use iPhone email setting to on.

      Thanks,
      Matt

  4. Jennifer says:

I’ve been trying to set it up from gmail but it won’t let me????

  5. steve says:

Do you have a phone number so I can call you for help?

    thanks
    steve

  6. steve says:

Still need some help. What can i do
    Steve

  7. Jennifer says:

I followed the instructions and it says message sent but no one is really getting them.

    • Matt says:

ok, what carrier are you trying to send to? also, are you using the full 10 digit phone number(area code included?). also, are you getting any returned emails to your inbox saying unable to deliver or anything like that?

      thanks,
      matt

  8. Jennifer says:

I’m sending to tmobile and no emails coming back

    • Matt says:

are you using gmail? gmail isn’t push, so you will have to open gmail either in a web browser or in your email to receive the email….so they are getting them now, your just not getting the response? earlier you had said they weren’t getting them?

      thanks,
      matt

  9. Dan says:

It takes FOREVER to send the shortest message! Why????

    • Matt says:

define forever? it takes between 5 and 10 seconds normally to negotiate with your email provider and send the email. it has to get to the server on the correct port, negotiate with your security credentials(use ssl, requires auth, username, and password), then send the message and verify that it sent correctly. it all depends on your connection, wifi “SHOULD” be the fastest as long as you have a good connections, 3G should be next fastest, then edge.

      thanks,
      matt

  10. Dan says:

FOREVER means AT LEAST 1-2 MINUTES, maybe longer. I am using EDGE, do not have 3G in my area, using pop & smtp, will it make a difference what port I am using? I love the concept but this is too slow!!

  11. craig says:

I have an iPhone(at&t) I’m using yahoo(not paid) for my email.
I can send text msgs fine to an AT&T phone but it is taking 30 minutes to get back to my phone. Please help

    • Matt says:

and you have your phone set to push or fetch for getting emails? Settings->Fetch New Data is the tag your looking for?

      thanks,
      matt

  12. steve says:

I am using yahoo not paid account. I am using push but I don’t always get my e mail

    • Matt says:

      steve,

make sure your phone is set to get “push” emails from yahoo. settings->Fetch new Data should be set to push. is the response always in your yahoo mail, it’s just a matter of whether it gets to your phone? or does it not always get back to your yahoo mail?

      matt

  13. tony says:

Hi I just bought your app and so far everything is working but when I text my tmobile friend he gets my text and replies but I never get it. I get text from my AT&T buddies just fine. I use mail2web email which has free push and yes my push is set to ON, I converted from textfree unlimited app hoping your app is better, please help me out

    • Matt says:

hmm, i have a friend with tmobile, and i get my responses back from him, but i’ll double check and get back to you.

      matt

    • Matt says:

i also use mail2web for my push. i’ll double check with him….

    • Matt says:

tony, also make sure that the responses coming from your tmobile buddy aren’t getting marked as spam by mail2web, i’ve had a few emails get marked as spam that weren’t spam by mail2web.

      matt

  14. craig says:

In my case it’s not getting back to yahoo mail

    • Matt says:

what settings are you using craig? are you using the use iphone email? if so make sure that yahoo is the default email account. goto your settings->mail, contacts, and calendars, in the mail section there is a “default account”, make sure that is your yahoo account.

      thanks,
      matt

  15. steve says:

I have text messaging and when I text myself my text come back to me as undelivered. Why? I have AT&T

  16. tony says:

Hey matt how do I check my junk mail on my phone I don’t even have a junk folder on the phone

    • Matt says:

i’m not sure that you can check it on your phone, i just logged in online to mine, and there is a “SPAM” folder in the inbox. also, whatever email address you are forwarding from might get notification of a return saying mail2web might not accept it.

      matt

    • tony says:

I just checked and I don’t have anything in the junk folder…

    • tony says:

I wonder if my settings are correct? I only changed the from email, user name and password, I didn’t mess with the port or the SMTP

    • Matt says:

can you send me a screen cap of the settings, press the power and home button at the same time when you are on the settings screen. then email it to me by going into the photos app, choose the pic and click the lower left button and choose email. email it to hfidevelopmentsupport@gmail.com

      thanks,
      matt

    • tony says:

      Done just sent it

    • tony says:

hey matt any news on the tmobile situation with your friend?

    • Matt says:

      well two things happened:

      1. i got his response about 2 days after he sent it.
      2. i got sent out of town for work, and haven’t been able to work with him at all on the issue.

      sorry,
      matt

    • tony says:

Oh ok…well whenever you got the time please keep me up to date.

    • tony says:

      Anything yet Matt??

    • Chase says:

      Sent it

    • Matt says:

i see the screen cap, it looks like you filled out all the settings, then turned on to use your ipod email, was this your intention?

      matt

    • Chase says:

No but should I turn it off?

    • Matt says:

if you turn it off it will use the settings you put in and send from within the app, if you leave it on it tries to open up a mail message on your phone, then you have to click send again.

      matt

    • Chase says:

Ok took it off and said couldn’t connect to server when I send then I Tryed txt free lite same problem couldn’t receive but could send so there is something wrong with my itouch not your app

    • Matt says:

Janet, do you already have yahoo setup on your phone? If not, toto settings->mail, contacts, calendars, click new account, choose yahoo, put in your info, when your done, while still in mail, contacts, and calendars scroll down to the mail sectio and make sure the yahoo is the default account. Then in the app toto the settings screen and choose use iPhone email to ON, then you should be good to go

So far I am only able to send messages to on service provider, verizon. Tried sending a message to a sprint phone and was sent a message that it didn’t go thru. Anything on my settings that u should change? Thanks Matt.

    • Matt says:

      shane,

double check and make sure you have full 10 digit phone numbers for the numbers you are trying to text(area code plus 7 digit phone number). also if you could forward one of the “failure” emails to hfidevelopmentsupport@gmail.com, i can try and trouble shoot it more…

      matt

  20. simon says:

hey i just wanted to say this is a great app!
but i need to know …..if someone can text me
back with out having to hit the relpy button?
and i also wanted to know if i can recive and
send messages to any mobile phone besides
    the iphone for free still?

    • Matt says:

well in theory somebody could use the app to send you a text message, but that kinda defeats the purpose. the whole purpose is so that you don’t have to pay to send or receive “texts” using the app and then email. yes you can send texts to any phone on any carrier, not just iphones.

      thanks,
      matt

  21. jen says:

  22. Jostian says:

does this application work in South Africa on Vodacom, MTN & Cell C networks? thanks

    • Matt says:

It will work on any data network to send to the USA, Canada, and other carriers provided in the app. Currently it does not support sending to those carriers, I will look around and see if I can find that info.

      Thanks,
      matt

  23. mat says:

    • Matt says:

If you are getting unable to connect to server, that means your settings are wrong, send me a screenshot of your settings, press the home and power button at the same time and email to hfidevelopmentsupport@gmail.com

as for the +63, I don’t think u need to, just put it in as u would if u were there locally
