This app is not sending any of my msgs with being hooked up to wifi.

Are you using yahoo? Do you have yahoo plus? You have to have yahoo plus for SMTP access. There is a pending update for the app store that would allow you to use the built in email(including yahoo). I hope I answered your question, if you have any more please don’t hesitate to ask
I still do not understand how to use this. It’s not sending any of my mgs either

What happens when you type in the ten digit phone number, pick the carrier and press go?

Well I wait so it can send it but then my connections always gets lost. I don’t remember what it said because I left it alone for a while but I will try again
double check your settings here is what they should be:
Hotmail:
Email Address: youremail@hotmail.com
Smtp Server: smtp.live.com
Smtp Port: 587
Username: youremail@hotmail.com
Password: your password
Use SSL: ON
Requires Auth: ON
what do you mean your “connections always gets lost” ??? wifi connection? 3g connection?
Okay so I have done that and it says it has successfully sent my message. So when they reply how does it look or what will it say.?
it should come back to your hotmail account. how it will look or what it will say depends on the carrier you sent it to and the person responding…but typically it will look like this:
From: 5555555555@txt.att.net
RE: Text Message
Body of Email: Hey i got your text from the super cool Free SMS app. congrats!!!
you will see their phone number @ whatever the carrier address is as the from, which should allow you to identify who the email came from.

Is there an easier way to figure out carrier besides asking or guessing? I don’t see an automated way to figure that out, and don’t know who everyoneis with.

unfortunately no. When carriers started letting people take their number when they switched, that went out the window with it. I’m hoping to release an update that saves the carrier for each number u text sometime in the next few weeks.

I send a message fine it goes to my text message inbox.. Will i be charged still? Also when i send a message to someone on my contact list it doesnt show up any different than a normal message!! And it does not get sent to my email account! What do i need to do??

yes the person you send the message to is charged for a text message, so if you send one to yourself, you get charged for 1, not 2. if you send it to somebody on your contact list, it’s supposed to show up just like any other text message, that’s the whole idea. if they reply, it should could come back to your email, i’m not sure what the problem could be, i need more info.

When i send it sends as a email fine but when they reply it does not come back as a email it comes as a normal text…my email does not ever get the message!!!
Are you using the “use iPhone email” setting? If so check out the email settings page and try out the hotmail settings, if not, let me know

Ok. I have an iPhone 3g 16 gig. When I try to send a text the app closes. I can only do it with my email. Please help so I don’t have to use my email. There are no errors, it just closes unless I use email option.
What settings are you using when you turn the use iPhone email off? Who is your email provider that you want to use with the app?

Will this be pulled from the App store like Infinite Text?
very doubtful. infinite sms was pulled by the developers b/c google asked them to take it down. they were using a public api to “tap” into the google chat system. this is just sending an email basically that the carrier translates to a text message. the carriers even allow this from their own websites, so it would represent a major policy shift for them to “turn” this off. i highly doubt that it would ever happen, but anything is possible i guess. you asked for the truth, you got it!

send me a screenshot of your settings, press the power and home key at the same time and goto your photos app and push the lower left button and email it to hfidevelopmentsupport@gmail.com

well it sounds like hotmail servers are having some issues , try the app again tomorrow and get back to me

What if you don’t know the carrier?
well, currently, if you don’t know the carrier, you basically can’t send a text….we are working on a way to MAYBE send to all carriers.

I was wondering if there is a way for a friend to send me a text on the iPod touch 8gb. They can reply to my texts but is there a way for them to initiate one?

Touch doesn’t have text, the touch would have to use the app to send u a text, u reply, they get an email back, then they can reply and u get a text and so on
What should my setting be for aol,also when I get a reply will it notify me like a SMS?

That would be amazing if it just had this other tab added called inbox so you would never have to go to your mail app it would still be amazing if it didn’t have push and I know I’m asking for alot but just reply telling me what you think Matt but other than that amazing app
Yea we have talked about adding an inbox, but we don’t think u need it. How do u use the app? Do u send a message, go check your email, then open the app and send a response? If so u dont have to do that, u can simply reply to the email and the other person will get a text back. So the app is more like a conversation starter then u use your email to receive/reply.

I used to but now I’m sponsored by a couple companys so my sig is pretty long so I always go back to app and send another message and plus if you added an inbox you guys could raise the price and make more $$$
